I don’t remember a day that’s so jammed with so many high-profile movies, two well reviewed Oscar contenders, one popcorn adventure flick, one broad comedy, one romantic drama. Which begs the question: if you had to choose one movie to see on the December 21st weekend which one will it be?
National Treasure: Book of Secrets (I hated the first one, but I guess the families will flock to this one)
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (Frankly, it looks hilarious)
P.S. I Love You (Looks too sappy to be considered an option, but Richard LaGravenese is one of the best writers out there, so I’d give this one a chance).
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (The first Tim Burton movie I’m anxious to see since the Planet of the Apes debacle)
Charlie Wilson’s War (There’s no way in hell the combo plate of Nichols, Sorkin, Hanks, Roberts and Hoffman could turn out bad, is there?)
OK, now take this poll I set up over at our friends at Poll’s Boutique: Which movie will you see December 21st?

I will be so happy to see John C. Reilly in the lead. Loved all his other movies, especailly Boogie Nights and Magnolia.

John C. Reilly is an exellent actor, but it sometimes takes a different kind of skill to act in comedic parts (as opposed to dramatic ones). For example, I did not care at all for Robert De Niro’s performance in “Analise this”. nevertheless, “Walk hard” does seem interesting, although, if I had to choose, I’d go for “P.S. I love you” (because I prefer drama).

Eithan, beware of “P.S I love you” (read the book, was soppy as hell).
And John C. Reilly I think has proved himself as a great actor both in comedies and in drama, like the part he did in Ulu Grosbard’s “Georgia”. I also think that when he does comedy, or lighter parts, like in Robert Altman’s last movie “A Prairie Home Companion” he does it very seriously.

I am going to see Charlie Wilson’s War. It has been highly rated by the “critics” and we know that when the critics rate a movie high… it MUST be good (since they rarely rate ANYTHING as being good). Merry Christmas!
