This witty observation is off the cover of The New York Press: eight teams of brothers have made a movie in 2007.
Andrew & Luke Wilson (+ Owen)
The Wendell Baker Story
Joel & Ethan Coen
No Country For Old Men
(NYP forgot the Coens’ produced “Romance and Cigarettes”)
Ridley & Tony Scott
American Gangster, The Taking of Pelham 123
(Ridley and Tony are also very visible in “Dangerous Days”, the 200 minute documentary accompanying “Blade Runner: The Final Cut”)
The Brothers Strause
Alien Versus Predator Redux
Ben & Casey Affleck
Gone Baby Gone
Peter & Bobby Farrelly
The Heartbreak Kid
Michael & Mark Polish
The Astronaut Farmer
The Wachowski Brothers
The Invasion (+ the upcoming Speed Racer).
(VOTE: The best brother-brother filmmaking team out there right now).
BUT —
The editors of The New York Press left some siblings out, let me help them complete it with at least six other teams that were active, together or apart, in 2007:
Oxide & Danny Pang
The Messengers
Jennifer & Suzanne Todd
Across the Universe (producers)
Tony & John Gilroy
writer-director and editor (respectively) of “Michael Clayton”
Joe & Matthew Michael Carnahan
Director of “Smokin’ Aces” and writer of “The Kingdom” and “Lions for Lambs”
Chris & Paul Weitz
The Golden Compass
Harry & Rupert Gregson-Williams
Composers. One for “Gone Baby Gone” and “Shrek the Third”, the other for “Bee Movie” and “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry”

Adding another brother-sister duo, John and Joan Cusack (what was their mother thinking of when she named them, the boobsey twins?) who worked together this year, side by side on “Martian Child”.

adding that I did not see the movie, but I have fond memories of their colabaration on “Say Anything”.

How about David and Denise Cronenberg who directed and designed the costumes for Eastern Promises, respectively.

Miri, John was fantastic in “Martian Child”, and Joan was unfortunately utterly wasted.

Hey Liron, I love John! and I have a soft spot for Joan as well (her line “coffe, tea, me?” is from one of my favorite movies, “Working Girl”, and not to forget her great scene in “Broadcasting News”). Didn’t see “Martian Child” though, probably will catch it on dvd.

You forgot another set of brothers - the Raimi brothers from “Spiderman 3″. But I totally get you, cause I forgot all about this film as well

I meant that I totally get that… I won’t get you, I promise…
(I’m a Spam here too? man…)
